Iran to launch 100pct renewable energy system by 2030


(MENAFN) Iran has the capability to launch a 100 percent renewable energy system for the nation by 2030 by investing almost USD187bn.

Accordingly, the country would need to improve almost 49 GW of solar power, 77 GW of wind energy and 21 GW of hydropower to achieve a zero-emissions grid.

Furthermore, Iran is dependent on natural gas and oil to produce power and is one of the most energy-intensive nations in the world.

However, water shortage and air pollution, is becoming an acute problem for the nation of more than 80mn people, forcing officials to embrace the idea of increasing renewable energy capacity.
