Oman- Muscat ranked third in Arab world in quality of life: Mercer


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Muscat is ranked third best Arab city in terms of quality of life in the 2017 Quality of Living Ranking issued by Mercer, one of the world's largest HR consultancy firms. Muscat is ranked 106th on the world level in the index which includes 231 cities.

The sultanate's capital came third across Africa and the Middle East level after Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Doha, Tunis, Rabat, Amman and Casablanca are placed from fourth to eighth in the region.

The Austrian capital Vienna tops the list, followed by Zurich of Switzerland, Auckland of New Zealand, Munich of Germany, Vancouver of Canada and Dusseldorf of Germany.

Iraq's Baghdad is at the bottom of the list.

This is the 19th edition of the index prepared by Mercer.

The index relies on a number of factors, such as quality of infrastructure, easy access to means of transport and availability of quality electricity and potable water, telephone and mail services.

It also takes into consideration economic stability, low social and political disorders, availability of banking and health services, availability of media, culture, entertainment services, restaurants and low level of pollution in a country.
