Mosque in Al Ain wins Abdullatif Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture

JEDDAH, 13th March, 2017 (WAM) -- Prince Khalid Al Faisal, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Adviser, Emir of the Makkah Region, has honoured the three winners of the 2nd Abdullatif Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture, out of 122 participants from Gulf countries at a ceremony in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The three winners were the Sheikha Salama Mosque in Al Ain, UAE, in the central mosques category, the Msheireb Mosque in Qatar in the category of mosques, and the Arcapita Mosque in Bahrain in the local mosque category. The total amount of the award, which reached SR2 million, will be divided among the winners.

In his speech during the ceremony, Prince Sultan bin Salman, Chairman of the Tourism and National Heritage Authority and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the award, said that the award aims to promote relations between the community and mosques based on values of Islamic coherence, while highlighting the important developments and achievements, and its expansion to include many global Islamic countries for its third edition.
