KUWAIT CITY, Feb 28, (KUNA): Kuwait Tennis Association has declared the launch of the 8th Kuwait Open Tennis Tournament this Thursday, March 2, which is to continue until March 14.

In a press statement, Head of the association and Head of the tournament's higher organizing committee Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah affirmed that this year's tournament will witness unprecedented participation from both citizens and residents of various age categories and genders.

He indicated that the tournament will involve tennis players from all local sports clubs, revealing that the organizing committee was forced to stop registering new players due to the limited number of tennis courts on which the tournament will be held.

Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber expressed hope that this year's tournament will achieve the level of success sought by the organizing committee in order to complete its huge role in the development and promotion of tennis culture in Kuwait.

It is worth mentioning that the tennis courts to be used for the tournament are those of the association and those at Yarmouk Sports Club. The competing categories are – singles Under-11, Under-13 and Under-17, players of the age group between 45 and 55 years, women singles and diplomatic cadre.
