Global mobile phone users to exceed 5bn this year


(MENAFN) The number of mobile phone users globally will surpass 5bn by June, according to a study by Groupe Speciale Mobile Association (GSMA).

Recently, with populations in Asia, and India, on the rise, the number, which reached 4.8bn in 2016, should reach 5.7bn, or three quarters of the globe's population by 2020.

Almost 2.250 firms are collaborating in the third-largest tech conference in Barcelona and more than 150.000 visitors from all across the world will attend the four-day exhibition.

Accordingly, the mobile ecosystem last year employed 28.5mn people directly, a number which would increase to 30.9mn by 2020.
