Missing Thai tourist found 14 days later in Kowloon

(MENAFN- Asia Times) A 49-year-old tourist from Thailand was found on a Kowloon street on Wednesday, two weeks after she was last seen outside Mui Wo Market on Lantau Island.

Pornthip Sathienjarukarn, who traveled alone to Hong Kong on January 21 to visit her relatives, went missing after she was last seen outside Mui Wo Market on the morning of February 9, a statement on the Hong Kong government website said.

After she failed to return to Thailand as scheduled on February 4, her family, who live in Pattaya contacted the Thai consulate in Hong Kong, which reported the case to the city's police on February 16, Sing Tao Daily said.

The police missing persons unit told local newspapers that overstaying for illegal employment was ruled out because the woman was mentally disabled.

The woman was located on To Kwa Wan Road in Kowloon City on Wednesday. She had no injuries, there were no suspicious circumstances and she had been staying in the home of her relatives.
