Five roads, worth Dh14m, finished in 3 emirates

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Offering drivers a shorter and more convenient trip, the Ministry of Infrastructure Development has completed five critical roads against Dh14 million across the country.

The new roads were built at the Zafran district in Al Dhaid area of Sharjah and the Awhala road in the emirate of Fujairah, according to a senior official.

'These are added to the Shaml road, Wadi Shaam road and a fifth road that connects the Ghadaf district with the main road, all in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah,' said Eng Ahmed Al Hammadi, manager of road department.

All the roads built give a boost to the UAE Vision 2021, and the strategy of the ministry of infrastructure development to develop a high quality federal road network to support the economic development and social welfare, he added.

'The UAE is in the top position worldwide in terms of road quality and efficiency, and that excellence has been considered by the ministry since its early inception to ensure a sustainable economic growth, prosperity and progress.'

The Ministry of Infrastructure Development, though now having 717km long of federal roads, has unveiled promising plans to build and develop four new arterial roads in other emirates.

'The 119km long new federal roads, worth Dh2.7 billion, will better connect the areas and regions of the country and enhance security and trade movement in line with the directives of the UAE prudent leadership.'

The ministry has further accomplished 45 key projects for developing and maintaining federal roads against Dh4.420 billion in the last 10 years. 'These have all helped boost the economic and social boom in the country.'
