KUWAIT CITY, Feb 8: A Kuwaiti reportedly escaped unhurt when his car got trapped into an open manhole in a suburb of Fahd Al-Ahmad, reports Arab Times daily.
The man had to call a tow truck to pull the car out. The daily said it is surprising that in Kuwaiti theft has become a lucrative business — theft of construction material, power cables from buildings under construction and even manhole covers putting at risk the lives of motorists and pedestrians.
Many complaints about theft of manhole covers have been filed, but the suspects have yet to be arrested. Meanwhile, the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) issued orders to remove the doors of the Labor Relations Department offices in the Capital governorate for the convenience of visitors, reports Al-Shahed daily.
Sources said the decision was taken after receiving several complaints from employers and their representatives. Some sources said the employees at the department are using their desks to eat food as soon as they begin work and this disrupts and delays completion the transactions.
