Al-Sisi arrives to Kenya in a one-day official visit to discuss bilateral relations

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi arrived on Saturday to the Republic of Kenya in a one-day official visit that came following an invitation released from his Kenyan counterpart, President Uhuru Kenyatta, through which he asked Al-Sisi to visit Kenya, a statement out of the presidency said.

The visit discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between both countries and included talks between Al-Sisi and Kenyatta inside the presidential palace located in Kenya's capital, Nairobi.

Following the sessions, both presidents held a press conference in the presidential palace, where Al-Sisi expressed his pleasure to be in Kenya and stressed that the cooperation between both countries in trade and security fields is welcomed.

During his speech, Al-Sisi praised the role of the Islamic institution Al-Azhar in countering terrorism and extremism through its moderate rhetoric.

According to a presidency statement issued during the press conference, the main subjects of the sessions revolved around the updates regarding the affairs inside the Horn of Africa region and ways to enhance security and peace in it, means to develop cooperation between Nile basin countries, and discussions on the cooperation in countering terrorism and facing growing extremist ideology.

Meanwhile, Al-Sisi received on Thursday the Togolese president, Faure Gnassingbé, who visited Egypt for the sake of enhancing bilateral relations between both countries. The reception took place inside the Egyptian presidential palace of Al-Etihadiya.

According to a statement out of the Egyptian presidency, Al-Sisi asserted to his Togolese counterpart that Egypt is ready to boost Togo in all fields, especially in increasing the commercial exchange between both countries.

"Al-Sisi asserted that Egypt will also support Togo in the infrastructure field, naval transportation, agriculture, and health fields. Meanwhile the Togolese president said that his country is interested to know more about the Egyptian experiment in organising the state-sponsored Youth Conference," the Egyptian Presidency statement read.

Also, on Thursday, Al-Sisi received a phone call from the president of Guinea, Alpha Conde, in which both presidents discussed the current undertaken efforts to activate the results of the recently held African Summit, a statement out of the Egyptian presidency said.

They further reviewed a number of developments regarding the regional and African issues that both countries share and supporting efforts exerted to reach a political settlement to crises and conflicts existing in Africa.

"On the top of the regional cases that both presidents discussed was the Libyan crisis, in which Al-Sisi asserted that Egypt is supporting the unity and stability inside Libya. He referred to the recently exerted efforts from Egypt to all political entities in Libya," the presidency statement read.
