Ruler of Sharjah honours winners of Sharjah GCC Theatre Festival

SHARJAH, 15th February, 2017 (WAM) -- Theatre is the school of virtue and ethics and its content should be communicated to audience properly, affirmed H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah,in his keynote address while honouring winners of the second Sharjah GCC Theatre Festival at the Sharjah Cultural Palace on Wednesday.

Sheikh Sultan said he was pleased with efforts being made by GCC actors, directors and playwrights to develop their theatrical skills, talents and abilities.

''Theatres in schools and university will unlock talents and creativity and this will bring many benefits to GCC social life,'' HH added.

Sheikh Sultan honoured the best performed play in terms of lighting, sound system, directing, acting, storyline, and decoration.

Organised by Directorate of Theatre at the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information, the event ran from 9th to 15th February, the festival provides a platform to highlight, encourage and adopt theatrical expertise.

Practical workshops and seminars on theatre and acting were organised during the week-long cultural contest.
