80 Houthi militants killed in airstrikes and clashes with army forces in Taiz


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Aden: Eighty militants of the Houthi and the ousted Ali Abdulla Saleh militias were killed and tens others were injured in clashes with the Yemeni army and the resistance group, and an airstrike carried by the Arab coalition in the western side of Taiz south of the capital Sana'a.

According to a Yemeni military source, the clashes that took place during the past 24 hours in conjunction with intensive air raids by the Arab coalition resulted in the death of 80 members of the militias, including field leaders, and wounded dozens of others.

The source added that the Yemeni army forces have made significant progress and took control of important sites of the militias, most notably the air defense camp near Jabal Al-Nar and all the surrounding areas.

In a related context, the Arab coalition launched last night massive air raids on positions of the Houthi and Saleh militias west of Yemen.

According to military sources, the airstrikes targeted a militia camp and coastal defense sites, resulting in several deaths and injuries.
