Indian School Seeb holds Annual Athletic Meet


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The 13th Annual Athletic Meet and drill display of Indian School Seeb was recently celebrated amidst much fanfare.

Rashid al Kindi, chairman, Oman Sailing Committee & vice president, Asian Sailing Federation, and Dr M V Manjunath, oral maxillofacial surgeon & head of Tournament Committee, Junior Oman Cricket Club, graced the occasion as the chief guest and guest of honour, respectively.

The other dignitaries included Dr C K Anchan and Asawari Deoras, directors-in-charge of Indian School Seeb, BoD, Ravi Jayanthi, president of the School Management Committee, and other SMC members.

Student Council members welcomed the chief guest and the other revered invitees with the guard of honour.

The school choir began the meet with Oman and India's National Anthem followed by a welcome address rendered by Gopika Gokul, head girl.

Next, the four houses, led by the Student Council and Sports Captains displayed march past. The houses marched with elegance, military pomp and precision, saluting the chief guest. When Kindi declared the meet open, the events started in quick succession.

The oath of justice and fair play was taken by Shimantha Sushil, assistant sports captain, on behalf of all the four houses. The school torch was lit by the chief guest and the crème-de-la-crème athletes who are the national level players of the school - Aishwarya Lakshmi, Adithya Bose, Mohammed Sahil, Mohammed Sameer, Mohammed Tasleem and Amir Sohail - relayed the school torch in a fervent ceremony.

The incredible drills with different props were performed in perfect unison and discipline, with the backdrop of vibrant music. Class I and II children performed the pom-pom drill with tremendous coordination. Classes III and IV had loops in their hands to show their skill and movements.

Class V and VI students presented the splendid ribbon drill, colouring the whole environment.

The highlight of the day was the daring feat of students on Malkhamb.

Dr Manjunath congratulated the students. Jayanthi honoured the guests and march past judges.

Kindi thanked the school management for inviting him and appreciated the students for taking part in the sports events.

The vote of thanks was formally proposed by Alan Anu Jacob, head boy.
