(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) In this case since the father was in a good position, he could pay for the child's maintenance The Dubai Police Human Rights Department helped a six-year-old Asian child whose well-to-do father left him with the unemployed mother and failed to renew his visa and get him the documents needed to join school.
Brig Mohammed Al Murr, director of Dubai Police's human rights department, said the mother pleaded to the school to accept the child and also to reduce the school fees as an exceptional case, but they refused and asked her to seek help from the women and child protection section at the human rights department.
Social workers contacted the school. Colonel Dr Abu Baker Al Jasami, director of the women and child protection department said since the problem was with the documents, the consulate was contacted which, in turn, helped issue the required documents for admission.
The department also contacted the father and explained to him that as per Wadeema Law he is responsible for the child who has a right for education. The father then agreed to bear all expenses of the child.
Brig Al Murr added that it is children who pay for disputes between parents. He added that the Wadeema Law will help stop such inhuman activities and said that this was not the first case. However, in this case since the father was in a good position, he could pay for the child's maintenance
