UAE- Former Khaleej Times journalist passes away


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Among his many enterprises that took off and blazed a fresh trail was Chakmak (a children's edutainment magazine) and Srote (India's first Hindi Science Wire Service). Former Khaleej Times journalist Rex Rozario died in Houston on Wednesday. Rex was 68. He left the paper in 2002 after a decade of working in Dubai to associate with several NGO projects in India which included Kishore Bharti, Eklavya and the Sambhavna trust.

One of the finest exponents of English from his school days and winner of the Loyola College Gold Medal for language studies, his eclectic 45-year career in journalism saw him working in Times of India and rising to the rank of Deputy Editor of Science Age. He freelanced for several newspapers in the Gulf and was an aficionado of science and aviation writing.

In his final years, Rozario continued to engage in social services with a special emphasis on the needs of rural children and it is a tribute to his talent and ability and his personal loyalty and sense of comradeship that he is so warmly remembered by his old friends and colleagues. He is survived by wife, two daughters, son and four grandchildren.
