Kremlin receives Obama's statement on nuclear arms cuts

(MENAFN) The Kremlin had discussed a statement issued by ongoing US President Barack Obama on nuclear arms cuts, and said Russia had always been ready to consider making proportional cuts to its arsenal.

On the other hand, Obama said he told President Vladimir Putin that he is ready to proceed with nuclear disarmament, but that Russia didn"t want to negotiate.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a conference call: "The Russian side always favored a proportional and fair process of nuclear disarmament," and he added: "It can't be disproportional."
