Possible ferry service between Oman and Pakistan discussed


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Officials have discussed the possibility of starting a ferry service between Oman and Pakistan, Pakistani media has reported.

The news came at a time the chairman of the State Council, H E Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Manthri was in the country on an official visit.

'This initiative will start a new chapter of friendship between our countries,' Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was quoted as saying during a meeting with H E Dr Manthri.

The Prime Minister said the ferry service would provide an affordable alternative source of movement for a large number of people who travel on these routes regularly.

He said Pakistan and Oman are natural allies due to geographical proximity, and the leadership and people of Pakistan hold the people of Oman in high esteem.

Sharif said Pakistan was grateful to Oman for its support in connection with Pakistan-GCC Free Trade Agreement.
