(MENAFN - The Peninsula) #Qatar will once again host the Longines Global Champions Tour Championship finale and the Global Champions League finale at the prestigious state-of-the-art Al Shaqab Equestrian Centre from November 9 to 11, organisers of the global event announced.
Founded by His Highness the Father Emir, this magnificent, renowned venue will see the best showjumpers in the world pull out all the stops to win the overall title for 2017.
The electrifying climax to the season at Al Shaqab, a world-class equestrian facility and part of the #Qatar Foundation, will take place after individual and team competitions will play out in 12 countries and span the continents of Asia, The Americas and Europe.
Al Shaqab was established as part of H H The Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani's vision and passion to preserve and perpetuate the Arabian horse in Qatar. It has since developed into a major international equestrian facility encompassing multiple equine disciplines.
Qatar, a destination which joined the Tour in 2008, has continued to build on its reputation as a global sports destination and a hub for major international sporting occasions.
Al Shaqab will be the impressive final stage of the 2017 Championship and Global Champions League - a fiting position for this top quality, cutting-edge venue.

The grand finale unfolds The superb structure and its vast floodlit arena will once again be the special final stage for the crowning of the champions of both the Longines Global Champions Tour and Global Champions League.
Fans will be hoping for sporting drama to last until the final leg repeating the excitement of 2016 when Rolf-Goran Bengtsson claimed the individual championship of the Longines Global Champions Tour and team Valkenswaard United won the Global Champions League. It was a season of knife-edge jump-offs and superlative performances as the level of the sport once again reached new heights.
If the final is anything like 2015, when Portugal's Luciana Diniz won the title following a nail-biting three-horse race between herself, Scott Brash and Rolf-Goran Bengtsson, the culmination of this revolutionary season is sure to be a tense affair that comes right down to the wire. Like the two earlier seasons, the scene is set for another tremendous season in the international spotlight as the world's top show jumping athletes chase sporting glory and record prize money in 2017.
The curtain will go up on the 2017 season in #Mexico City from April 6 to 9.
