Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis Meets Qatar's UNESCO Candidate


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Basseterre, January 11 (QNA) - Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis Timothy Harris met with HE Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, advisor at the Emiri Diwan and Qatar's candidate for the director general post at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The prime minister expressed his admiration for the State of Qatar and his eagerness to develop the bilateral relations between both nations in all fields, confirming the support of the Caribbean countries to the Qatari candidate after reviewing the visions of all candidates and concluding that Al Kuwari is the most eligible for the position due to his scientific and practical expertise and his vision to consider small nations.
The prime minister appreciated Al Kuwari's visit to the Caribbean countries and its officials, in addition to his visit to education and cultural officials in the countries. He also appreciated attention given by Qatar to education around the world.
Al Kuwari thanked the prime minister for his support confirming that he will consider all the needs of these countries once appointed as director general for the UNESCO.
Al Kuwari also met with Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis Shawn Richards and discussed the candidate vision in the fields of education and culture.
Richards praised Qatar's attention to global education, hoping to cooperate with the State in the field, affirming his support to the Qatari candidate.
The candidate visited historical and cultural sites that are listed as part of the world heritage list in the island.
The visit took place during the candidate's tour to present his electoral program under the theme "Towards a New Start for UNESCO." The candidate plans to visit several countries including Caribbean and South American countries, where he will meet with senior officials from these countries. (QNA)
