UAE leaders condole deaths of diplomats in Afghan blast

The UAE martyrs have been named as Mohammed Ali Zainal Al Bastaki, Abdullah Mohammed Essa Obaid Al Kaabi, Ahmed Rashid Salim Ali Al Mazroui, Ahmed Abdul Rahman Ahmad Al Tunaiji, and Abdul Hamid Sultan Abdullah Ibrahim Al Hammadi, who had been on a mission to carry out humanitarian, educational and development projects in the Republic of Afghanistan.

Shaikh Khalifa prayed to Allah Almighty to bestow mercy and forgiveness upon them.

In a statement from the Ministry of Presidential Affairs earlier today, Shaikh Khalifa directed all ministries and government departments and institutions across the country to fly the flag at half-mast for three days in honour of the martyrs who gave their lives in defence of humanitarian causes.

No justification for killing people: Shaikh Mohammed His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler, has also condoled the deaths of the martyrs.

In a series of tweets, the Ruler tweeted that today UAE mourns thedeath of the diplomats, who were laid down their lives while serving the weak, children and the needy.

Shaikh Mohammed condemned the attack saying that there was no moral or religiousjustification for the bombing and killing of people who were there to help.

He prayed to Allah to bless the souls of the martyred diplomats, adding that the UAE is proud oftheirsons who sacrificed their lives in the way of serving humanity.Today, they stand tallas martyrsof humanity which terrorists know nothing about.

- HH Sheikh Mohammed (@HHShkMohd) January 11, 2017 The blast, which struck the provincial governor's office during a visit by the UAE delegation, was one of a string of bombings that hit three Afghan cities on Tuesday, killing some 50 people and wounding 100.

We have lost true heroes: Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has alsocondoled the five UAE diplomats martyred in Afghanistan on his Twitter account.

"Today, we have lost true heroes who were devotedly doing their humanitarian and charitable duty. They are a source ofpride and glory for the nation. May Almighty Allah rest their souls in eternal peace."

He added that such atrocious crimes shall never undermine the UAE'scommitmentto its humanitarian and charitable principles and extending a helping hand to all countries and people in need for help."

"Such dreadful terrorist attacks undertaken by the powers of evil and darkness shall never hamper our charity, right and mission of giving."
