(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Qatar Charity (QC) has completed preparations for
distributing basic food aid to 700 families living in poverty, marginalised
groups and war-affected civilians in Ibb city, central Yemen.
The deteriorating living and health conditions resulting
from the five-year conflict, high poverty rates among about 12,000 families,
high numbers of internally displaced persons, unemployment, high numbers of
orphans, widows, and sick children are strong grounds that led QC to quickly
respond to disaster and relief appeal launched by local authorities of Ibb
governorate.
According to field information, more than 70% of Al Qafr
district's total population of 140,000 is afflicted by hunger. The reports of the
governorate health office indicate that 14 children under age five died in
October-November 2016 due to food shortage and lack of health care services.
"QC's project that is dedicated to confronting famine
and poverty in Yemen
will distribute two-month food rations to 700 families. The foodstuff will
include 50 kg of milled wheat, 10 kg of sugar, 10 kg of rice, 3 kg of salt, 500
grams of tea, 3-liter of oil , 900 grams of milk and 25 cans of tomato
paste," Nasr Qaed Alzaeem, the Director of QC's office in Yemen said.
The Director of QC's office in Yemen
has extended the deepest thanks to Qatar for supporting their Yemeni
brothers who are living in bad conditions due to the ongoing crisis.
Donations to the Yemen campaign can be made by
calling the hotline 44667711, or via QC's website qcharity.org site, or through
