US agency concerns about 23 lost phones in VW scandal

(MENAFN) A US agency is involved with Volkswagen in talks over its diesel emissions scandal, which had raised concerns about two dozens of mobile phones destroyed or lost.

The agency said in a filing with US District Court in San Francisco that there were 23 lost or broken mobile phones the FTC was not able to access.

Accordingly, the 23 lost phones were "bright red flag, especially when they include phones that belonged to important individuals," but it did not identify who the important individuals who used the phones.

On the other hand, Volkswagen said it is cooperating with FTC's investigation, and called the FTC's claim "a diversionary smokescreen".
