Oman LNG extends social responsibility portfolio


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- As part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, Oman LNG signed four pacts aimed at assisting the visually challenged, hearing impaired and the disabled through its support to four different associations.

The agreements were signed by the chairmen of the four associations and on behalf of Oman LNG, were signed Khalid bin Abdullah al Massan, CEO, Oman LNG Development Foundation.

The first agreement with Oman Association for the Disabled was signed by Yahiya Abdullah al Amri, chairman.

By means of this agreement, the company will fund the association's procurement of various prosthetic devices to make life more comfortable for the 539 people living with disabilities across the sultanate.

Over the last five years, Oman LNG has invested more than RO800,000 towards the betterment of living standards of individuals supported by the Oman Association for the Disabled, a non-governmental association that was set up in 1995 to provide support, education and recreational activities for people with disabilities.

Oman LNG is committed to healthcare and social improvements and continues to find ways to assist associations to help people across the Sultanate.

The second agreement will see Oman LNG fund the purchase of a four-wheel drive vehicle for Al Noor Association for the Blind in North and South Batinah governorate.

The vehicle will further assist the association in organising various social activities for its members.

The pact was signed by Mohammed Ismail al Balushi, chairman of the association.

Previous efforts by the company to ease challenges for the visually impaired have seen Oman LNG extending a hand of support on various occasions to Omar Bin al Khattab Institute for the Blind in Muscat.

Here, it has facilitated the provision and provided a catalogue of different equipment covering lunar screen magnifiers, laptops and hearing systems.
Oman LNG has similarly funded the supply of critical pieces of equipment for Dhofar and Muscat centres of the Al Noor Association.

In case of the former, it was the acquisition of braille equipment and for the latter, it was a complete braille printing press.

By means of the third accord signed by Sultan Nasser al Amri, chairman of the association, the company will fund the purchase of hearing aids for the Oman Association for the Hearing Impaired to assist over 100 students from social security and low-income families.

Previous support by Oman LNG to the association was towards the acquisition of a vehicle to further assist the association in organising various social
activities.

The fourth agreement was signed with DG of Social Development in South and North Sharqiyah represented by Ahmed Said al Moqbali, director general.

By this agreement, Oman LNG will fund the association's procurement of rehabilitation equipment for 14 disabled children.

'We are engaging with the community and the country in general; our purpose is to deliver sustainable value and that is exactly what we are aiming to do through the agreements we have just inked,' said Khalid al Massan, Oman LNG's chief corporate affairs officer, after the agreements were signed.
