Kuwait establishes sewing factories to help Syrians in Turkey

HATAY, Turkey, Dec 4 (KUNA) -- Seeking to alleviate their suffering in a number of countries across the globe, the State of Kuwait has been providing numerous humanitarian aid to the Syrian families who have been facing tough conditions since the outbreak of the crisis.
Kuwait's charitable institutions have established some sewing factories to help Syrian women earn money to support their families living in southern Turkey.
This generous move represented a beacon that illuminates the dark situation in which female Syrian refugees are suffering from.
Despite their tragedy, Syrian women have been struggling to overcome challenges and difficulties around them through learning many crafts.
They joined the sewing factories established by some Kuwait's charities so as to earn money to help their families.
Last May, Zakat House founded, in collaboration with Turkey's IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, a sewing factory in Reyhanli town in Hatay city in southern Turkey to serve Syrian women. The town is hosting about 130,000 Syrian refugees.
Al-Rahma International Charity, an affiliate of Kuwait's Al-Islah Society (Society for Social Reform, carried out a training project so as to create jobs for Syrian women in the same city.
The project was suitable for beneficiaries who highly appreciated the key role of Kuwait's leadership and people in mitigating their suffering.
Mona Al-Saeed, a Syrian woman who joined Zakat House's sewing factory, expressed her gratitude to the State of Kuwait and the House for helping refugee widows and orphans.
In a statement to KUNA, Al-Saeed, a mother of four orphan children, said the sewing factory includes 23 trainees and helped them meet their necessary needs.
She stressed the keenness of all trainees to work hard in order to increase the production.
Shahama Khattab, another trainee, thanked Zakat House for this humanitarian project which contributes to easing difficulties facing many Syrian women.
Khattab, a mother of an orphan, said the project is a glimmer of hope for Syrian refugee widows, voicing her happiness for joining the sewing machine.
Also Amina Al-Hamwa, a Syrian refugee woman, voiced her appreciation to Kuwait and Zakat House for founding the project which, as she says, contributed to making a self-sufficiency of Syrian women.
Al-Hamwa has a very severe tragedy as she lost her husband, father and siblings in the current conflict in Syria. Now she is supporting her mother, children and some nephews.
Meanwhile, Abdulrahman Al-Mutawah, a senior official at Al-Rahma International Charity, said in a statement to KUNA the charity has carried out some projects focusing on empowering Syrian women in Turkey so as to help them take care of their children.
The charity provided a training and rehabilitation project to help widows learn crafts so as to feed their children, he added.
He noted that the sewing factory includes clever women, stressing that the aim of project is to create jobs for female Syrian women in a bid to remove their psychological pressures.
The State of Kuwait has been providing humanitarian aid and relief for needy people.
For the tremendous humanitarian aid, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was honored by the UN Secretary General in 2014 as a Humanitarian Leader and Kuwait as a Humanitarian Center.
Kuwait has been offering its unlimited assistance to needy people and the vulnerable impacted by the natural disasters and wars across the world.
The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development also has contributed to financing projects in Arab and developing countries to develop their economies.
Since the outbreak of Syria's crisis, His Highness the Amir has played a key humanitarian role as Kuwait hosted three donors' conferences to support Syria's humanitarian situation.
His Highness the Amir headed Kuwait's delegation to the World Humanitarian Summit hosted by Istanbul last May and the Leaders' Summit on Refugee Crisis in New York last September.
Furthermore, under the directives of His Highness the Amir, Kuwait founded a village hosting Syrian refugees in Kilis city in southern Turkey that included 1,248 houses, schools, medical centers, mosques and other services. Kuwait's charities and donors contributed to convoys of humanitarian aid sent to the displaced Syrians and those who are living at camps in neighboring countries.
Kuwait's medical team conducted many operations for Syrians injured in the war at Reyhanli Hope Hospital. (end) rs.hm
