Kuwait finishes building USD1.7bn utility plant


(MENAFN) Kuwait proclaimed the completion of the building phase of its USD1.7bn Azzour North One, which is the first independently-owned utility plant in the country.

Furthermore, the project is the first public private partnership project to be tendered and the first to be finished.

The plant is 40 percent owned by a private consortium comprising Engie, Sumitomo Corporation and AH Al Sagar and Brothers.

In addition, the plant is now capable of producing 10 percent of Kuwait's power needs at peak capacity (1.539 MW) and 20 percent of water generation.
