Jordan- Human rights team discusses 2015 report

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Oct. 25 (Petra) -- Members of the government's coordination team on human rights met today to discuss the recently passed 2015 National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) report that detailed the condition of human rights in the Kingdom.

Representatives of local and international civil society organisations attended the meeting, held at the Royal Cultural Center.

Government Coordinator for Human Rights, Basel Tarawneh, said the meeting was in line with the royal directives to give the human rights issue due importance and address shortcomings, if they existed, and guide stakeholders to solve them.

Tarawneh said the Government Coordination Office on Human Rights, had circulated the report for ministries and public entities to examine and address the observations and recommendations it contained. He said a report will be filed within the next two months as a reply to these notes.

The human rights follow-up committee's rapporteur and director of the Public Security Department's Transparency and Human Rights Bureau, Col. Hussam Majali, said that a specialised higher committee, comprising concerned departments that are in direct contact with the citizens, had been formed to review all the report's recommendations concerning the security agency in order to respond to them.
