KUWAIT, Oct 25 (KUNA) -- With the winter onset, Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan will face difficult living conditions but Kuwaiti relief teams will be there to help them survive the forthcoming biting cold and snow.
Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) launches on tomorrow the "warm winter campaign" to aid thousands of Syrian refugees in the two countries.
Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer, the KRCS Chairman, said in an interview with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that this campaign will be part of a set of relief activities to be organized this winter for relieving the war-afflicted Syrians.
Their hardships during the winter mount and their need for shelter, heating and food increases, thus they may face some of the harshest living conditions, Dr. Al-Sayer said.
The KRCS has been working in all seasons for aiding the Syrian refugees since flare-up of the war in their country in 2011.
In winter times, with snow blanketing and blocking roads leading to the refugees' locations, mission of the Kuwaiti relief teams turns more difficult, however they have been succeeding in delivering the assistance to the remotest places.
The society has so far given USD 30 million worth of relief supplies to the Syrians. The aid includes food, beddings, makeshift bakeries, medical centers and supporting local medical institutions that help the refugees.
Moreover, the Kuwaiti humanitarian work includes covering schooling fees, setting up tents and water networks.
Dr. Al-Sayer urged the citizens, associations and companies to contribute to the winter campaign to help the refugees survive the hard conditions in the winter. (end) aw.rk
