AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah II announced that Jordan will host the 28th Arab League Summit after Yemen declined to hold the annual Arab meeting in the country.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh told Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Aboul Gheit that he proposed the issue to His Majesty King Abdullah, the prime minister and the Cabinet, noting that the Kingdom agreed to host and chair the summit.
Judeh said in a letter to the Arab League chief that consultations will be held over the coming period on measures and steps needed to agree on the date of holding the summit, and extend invitations to kings, presidents and princes of Arab countries.
The Arab League secretary general informed the deputy prime minister in a letter last week that Yemen had declined to host the 28th Arab Summit.
