ABU DHABI, 23rd October, 2016 (WAM)--The Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) on Monday approved 40 development projects, stretching over an area of seven million square metres, and raising the percentage of approved development projects to three per cent, compared with the same period of 2015.

The UPC also endorsed expansion of the Mayan residential project, located near Yas Links Golf Course, spreading over an area of 69,500 sq m. One of Mayan's buildings has already been approved under the pearl rating system (Estidama), which is affiliated with the council, it added. The five new buildings are also seeking to be approved for the Estidama System, the UPC said.

Officials added that 17 projects and four master plans will be carried out on Abu Dhabi's islands, while 12 projects and a master plan will be built on the Abu Dhabi mainland. The UPC also approved four projects and master plans to be executed in Al Ain city, with another two projects in the Eastern Region.
