(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Oct 22 (KUNA) -- Egypt, Spain and New Zealand -- all UN Security Council (UNSC) members -- are wording a UN draft resolution over the situation in Syria particularly the humanitarian side, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri said Saturday.
The three countries are focusing on the humanitarian side in their draft resolution with the ultimate objective of alleviating suffering of the Syrian people and providing them with relief supplies, Shukri told a joint news conference with his Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Margallo.
The draft resolution, he added, also included cessation of hostilities among the conflicting parties in order to end the crisis politically.
"There is an urgent need to address the conditions of the Syrian people whether in Aleppo or other areas, and we will continue with this work with our partners," he said.
Shukri, who said Cairo and Madrid were coordinating positions over a host of issues, said Egypt wanted to preserve unity of Syria as well as enabling the Syrian people determine their own future.
Shukri meanwhile said Egypt was contributing to alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people.
Margallo said Spain and many other countries were in agreement on importance of a ceasefire, launching dialogue and providing aid for the needy. (end) esm.bs
