Qatar colts take on Yemen in crucial tie


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar take on Yemen today in their second match of the AFC U19 Championship, taking place in Bahrain. Defending champions Qatar were held to a 1-1 draw in their opening match against Iran. Qatar will be keen to get a win under their belt and more importantly, get three crucial points.
Coach Oscar Cano had lauded the performance of his side, saying Qatar played ‘brave"; football in their 1-1 draw against Iran.
'The first game at any event is dangerous. You don";t know what to expect,” Cano said.
'But I would say the team played brave football. They were the better side,” he said.
'Iran got the equaliser from a good attack. But I feel it is important not to lose the first game at any tournament,” he said.
'I am proud of my team. We can qualify for the next stage. We will focus on the second game now,” he said.
Cano said that his team is looking forward to the remaining games. 'We are looking forward to the next games,” he said. 'Japan is a good side but we are well prepared,” Cano said.
'We should aim for a win,” he said. 'This is a strong group. We have good sides playing here. We must be at our best in the next two games,” he said.
Iranian coach Amir Husain said: 'We made some mistakes in the first half. We corrected those mistakes in the second half.”
He added: 'I think the players have been impacted by warm weather. We played good football to get the equaliser.”
'Qatar played good football. It was an exciting match,” he added.
