Kuwait- Bid to spread traffic awareness among citizens, expats

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 30: Coinciding with the start of the new academic year and due to the keenness to ensure comfort of road users, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Fahad Al-Shuwai'e Thursday inaugurated a traffic exhibition inside Al-Hamra Tower in Kuwait City. Other contributors to the exhibition were Information Systems Department and General Department of Public Relations and Security Media of Ministry of Interior.

In a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, Major General Al-Shuwai'e declared that the exhibition, the activities of which will continue until Saturday, is meant to spread traffic awareness to citizens and expatriates to ensure their safety on the roads and to reduce the rate of accidents. He stressed that the exhibition will present some procedures that will facilitate procedures for people who need to visit the General Traffic Department concerning certain issues, by assisting them in unblocking of violations and immediate release of seized vehicles.

Citizens and expatriates will be able to make payment for blocked traffic violations. The procedures also include conducting theoretical examinations in all governorates.

Major General Al-Shuwai'e said people can also verify traffic violations, and locations of seized vehicles and motorbikes which will be released from that place. He affirmed that all violations blocked before Sept 25 will be opened except those seized for stunting, betting, racing, driven by Kuwaitis without license and use of private vehicles as taxi cabs.

Speaking at the event, Director of Public Relations and Security Media Department of Ministry of Interior Brigadier Adel Al-Hashash announced that the activities of a media awareness campaign titled 'Wish them Safe Return' will continue in all governorates by concentrating on the significance of cooperating with security operatives and traffic officers to ensure safety for all. He indicated that several publications and guides will be distributed during the event to encourage road safety and improve the rate of awareness for citizens and expatriates.
