Oman- Hinai named chief executive of Awasr

Awasr, a provider of specialised broadband Internet services in Oman, has appointed Eng Al Fadhal bin Abbas al Hinai as its new chief executive officer.

Eng Hinai brings to Awasr more than 15 years of experience in the information and communications technology sector, specifically in areas such as network engineering, project management, and policy and strategy development. He has acted as a technical consultant for various strategic projects in the sultanate's public and private sectors, and has been keenly involved in the commercial, economic, technical and social aspects of several projects, a company press release said.

H H Sayyid Taimur bin Asad al Said, chairman of the board, welcomed Eng Hinai and reiterated his trust in Eng Hinai's capability to implement Awasr's growth plan and achieve its strategic objectives. 'Eng Hinai will carry out Awasr's innovative projects targeting homes and businesses in the sultanate in line with the sector's development plans, particularly the Oman National Broadband Strategy,' Sayyid Taimur said.

Awasr will enable Omanis to make the best of ultra-high speed Internet and achieve a better lifestyle. 'We will work as a team to maintain the success and growth achieved by Awasr since its inception in March. We will put our experience to good use and strengthen the company's position in the telecommunication's market by utilising the latest technical developments in the sector. We will also implement the best modern management models focused on business leadership,' Eng Hinai added.

Awasr officially launched its services earlier this year, becoming Oman's first specialised optic fibre service provider. It was recently issued a Grade 1 licence, allowing it to expand its services in Maabilah, Seeb, Al Hail, Al Khoud and Shatti al Qurm.
