Dubai to host medical tourism conference next month

DUBAI, 28th September, 2016 (WAM) -- Dubai will host the 2nd Dubai Health Regulation and Medical Tourism Conference in October, bringing together leaders in the field to discuss latest advances in health regulation and ways to strengthen regulatory mechanisms to ensure high-quality healthcare and patient safety.

Over 400 participants and high-level officials from International Organisation of Medical Tourism, International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities, World Health Regulatory Authorities, UAE Ministry of Health, Health Authority Abu Dhabi and Emirates Medical Association will attend the two-day conference.

Dr. Layla Al Marzouqi, Director of Health Regulation at the Medical Tourism Project at the DHA, said: "The conference provides an opportunity for stakeholders to compare regulatory models and examine ways of promoting best practice in regulatory governance and performance. The participants will have insights, perspectives and an opportunity to discuss current challenges in health professional and healthcare facilities regulation."

The conference will also discuss importance of accreditation to improve patient safety and consequently better care delivery systems.
