The Omani Products Exhibition (OPEX), which was inaugurated in Tehran on Monday is witnessing a great turnout of Iranian investors and business owners.

Nasima al Balushiyah, director general of export development at Ithraa and a member of the OPEX Organising Committee, informed that latest statistics indicate an increase of over 90 per cent in non-oil Omani exports to Iran in 2015 compared to 2014.

Speaking of Ithraa's participation at OPEX in Iran, Nasima said, 'Ithraa is participating as part of the organising committee of this event. We are introducing and briefing visitors about the services offered to Omani exporters and the most promising products that can be exported to Iran and the neighbouring markets. We have received a significant number of enquiries from Iranian businessmen regarding products and list of Omani exporters registered with Ithraa.'

Mohammed al Jabri, head of marketing at the Export Credit Guarantee Agency (ECGA) of Oman said the agency is taking part at OPEX in Iran in accordance with its commitment to stimulate and promote Oman's non-oil exports by providing credit guarantee covers for the Omani exporters. He said that the main aim of these covers is to reduce risks and hence create wider opportunities to increase exports to foreign markets.

On Tuesday, the event saw B2B meetings of Omani industrialists and their Iranian counterparts who discussed potential bilateral business opportunities. Participating Omani firms are representing various industries including natural resources, minerals, wood products, manufacturing products, furniture, food, medical and pharmaceuticals, fertilisers, plastic and metal equipment, perfumes, leather, and logistics.

The event is also being attended by several government bodies, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs). OPEX is being organised by a committee comprising the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates, Ithraa, and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. OPEX in Iran aspires at enhancing business relations between the sultanate and Iran and highlighting the high quality Omani products among visitors.

It also aims to help Omani businessmen explore the dynamic market of Iran, and get acquainted with the manufacturing, investment and export opportunities in Iran and the neighbouring markets. The event also offers a perfect platform for Iranian importers, agents, distributors, re-exporters of products with an excellent opportunity to meet, network and sign up with the exporters directly.
