Painting competition to be organised to mark Oman's 46th National Day

A painting competition is being organised by Bhavalaya, a global platform for art & culture under the patronage of the Embassy of India, Muscat and The Omani Society For Fine Arts as a tribute to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said on Oman's 46th National Day.

Three winners from each group will be awarded and rewarded apart from the best painter of the event. The brainchild of Dr J Retnakumar, Bhavalaya serves the international arts community by promoting and documenting creativity. Judgement, exhibition and prize distribution will take place on November 2.

From September 27 to October 10, participants should e-mail their creation with their picture, complete name and contact number to the ID: . Preliminary screening will take place on October 15. Entry is free. It is open to all Omani and Indian artists (age, 18 years or above) residing in Oman.

Participants should submit only one painting/sketch on the theme peace. 50 Omani and Indian artists each will be shortlisted. 23 Omani and Indian artists each will be eligible for the Final Art Symposium Competition on October 31 and November 1. Maryam al Zadjali, director, Omani Society for Fine Arts, said, 'We are happy to be part of this noble and novel venture by Bhavalaya.' Dr RetnaKumar said, 'We are proud and fortunate to have the patronage of the Omani Society for Fine Arts and Embassy of India in Oman for such a noble initiative.'

The Ambassador of India to Oman, H E Indra Mani Pandey, said, 'I am sure this project will underline the commitment of the people of Oman and India to peace and harmony in the world.'
