US consumer confidence increases to 104.1 in September


(MENAFN) The US Conference Board announced that consumers' confidence had surged in September, to its highest level since the recession.

According to Thomson Reuters consensus estimate, the Consumer Confidence Index, key measure of consumers' attitudes, hit 104.1 in September, while economists expected it to hit 99.0, down from August's revised reading of 101.8.

The survey measures confidence toward business conditions, short-term outlook, personal finances and jobs.
