First US shale gas arrives to Britain

(MENAFN) A tanker carrying the first shipment of shale gas from United States arrived to Britain on Tuesday, where currently there are no fracking operations.

The ship transported 27,000 cubic meters of ethane, where it had arrived on the River Forth near Edinburgh in Scotland and was given a traditional Scottish welcome.

The world's third largest chemical company, Ineos, will invest a USD2.6b, which will create a virtual pipeline with eight tankers transporting regular shipments across the Atlantic to Britain and Norway.
