Kuwait takes part in meeting with Asian nations to deepen cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 (KUNA) -- A Kuwaiti legislative delegation headed by MP Humoud Al-Hamdan is taking part the First Executive Council meetings of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) and the meeting of APA Standing Committee on Staff and Financial Regulations, which got underway in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh on Monday.
The meeting agenda includes its endorsement, electing members of the APA bureau, examining the assembly's general report, along with several recommendations addressing diverse issues.
The conference focuses on boosting parliamentary cooperation among the Asian nations, information and expertise exchange, challenges facing sustainable development, climatic change and its impact on economic development in Asia, said the Kuwaiti legislator during the first session.
He underscored necessity of boosting dialogue, combating poverty, tackling immigration, cementing social, economic and cultural bonds among nations of the region.
The Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) was born in 2006 at the Seventh Session of the Association of Asian Parliamentary for Peace (AAPP). It comprises at least 71 member parliaments and several observers. (end) aib.rk
