UAE- Horse Racing: Stage set for big race at Doncaster

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The stage is set for the British-Arab derby as the 23rd edition of The President Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Arabian Purebred Horse Race Cup kicks off at the famous Doncaster racecourse on Thursday, a Press release said.

The group 1 race will be held over a distance of 2,000 meters. The race is for horses that are four year old and above. Eight top Arabian purebred race horses will vie for glory. The race - organised under the umbrella of Abu Dhabi Sports Council - is being supervised by an organising committee chaired by Mattar Suhail Al Yabhooni, member of the Federal National Council. Al Yabhooni is also a member of the board of directors at Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

The race will be held under the patronage of The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and directives of Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

"Some of the best Arabian purebred horses from the UAE, France, Holland, the UK, and Qatar will be in action," said Faisal Al Rahmani, General Supervisor of the Races and Advisor of the Equestrian Sector at Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

"It is expected that over 35,000 spectators will be attending the race," Al Rahmani added.
