Tunisia in talks with British-Petrofac firm

(MENAFN) Tunisia reached an agreement with protesters who disrupted gas production by Petrofac in order to stop the British energy firm closing its business.

Petrofac supplies 13 percent of the country"s gas through the Chergui venture in the south, which started shutting down its regional gas operations.

Meanwhile, government proclaimed that importing gas from Algeria will make up for the shortfall caused by output disruptions that cost almost USD100mn.

The country will help 266 young unemployed and will make a local development fund, which may be a step to resolve the crisis with Petrofac.
