US Fed suggests rule to limit banks' commodity trading


(MENAFN) The U.S. Federal Reserve had proposed a rule to limit the physical commodity activities of financial companies to help reduce financial crisis.

According to the proposal, banks will hold additional holds required by the central bank, against their investments in physical commodities.

The Fed said in a statement, released on Friday that the possibility of an environmental accident due to the physical commodity trading present significant financial risks to banks.
