Jordan- Education Minister Discusses Cooperation with British Minister

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Mohammad Thneibat, discussed with British Minister of State for International Development Roderick Stewart, scopes of cooperation between the two countries, and means to further boost them in the educational field.

Thneibat spoke about the impact of the Syrian refugee crisis on Jordan, mainly on the education sector. "We believe that education is a basic right for every child as education is an international service," he added.

Jordan, the minister said, opened its schools for Syrian children and others, noting that the Kingdom is providing a humanitarian service on behalf of the international community.

Thneibat praised the support of the British government to Jordan's educational system to enable it to provide quality educational services to Syrian children and others.

The British minister hailed efforts of the education ministry to offer educational services to the Syrian children, noting that his government if fully aware of the challenges facing Jordan due to the Syrian crisis.

Stewart urged world countries and international organizations to fulfil pledges made during the London donor conference, and assist the Kingdom to continue services to the refugees.
