Iran oil exports above 2 mln bpd

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Iran's oil exports have risen above 2 million barrels a day, the official news agency IRNA reported on Wednesday, citing Mohsen Ghamsari, director for international affairs at National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).

In March, NIOC said exports had reached 1.8 million bpd.

Iran pledged to increase its oil production after sanctions were lifted in January and it has steadily increased its oil exports too. According to IRNA, Iran's production is now running at 3.8 million bpd.

According to data from Energy Aspects, global imports of crude from Iran rose in March to 1.90 million bpd from 1.51 million bpd in February.

Iran's exports peaked at just over 2.5 million bpd in 2011, making it the second-largest exporter that year after Saudi Arabia, but exports fell to a little more than 1 million bpd after tougher sanctions in 2012.
