UAE- Thumbay Moideen: No slowdown in education healthcare sectors


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Thumbay Moideen founder president of Thumbay Group was honoured by Forbes Middle East for being one among the top Indian business leaders in the Arab world in 2016.

Founded by Moideen in 1998 Thumbay Group is an international business conglomerate. With diversified interests the Thumbay Group ventured into health education healthcare medical research diagnostics retail pharmacy health communications IT retail optical wellness hospitality and real estate.

The Group owns and operates Gulf Medical University the only privately owned academic medical centre in the UAE.

Quizzed on how the Thumbay Group is contributing to India-UAE trade ties pat comes the reply: "We are in the business of education and healthcare. These are important businesses even for the government. Whenever the budget is announced these are priority sectors. Therefore we are also indirectly contributing to growing India-UAE trade ties. We have a hospital in Hyderabad and more are coming up in Bengaluru and Mumbai."

Praising the Indian government for turning around and improving business procedures Moideen said: "Being Indians we know to work around hurdles. India is a fantastic economy especially for our business."

Moideen refuted rumours of a slowdown in the economy. "It is a natural correction. But for our business there is no slowdown. Even in 2008 during the peak of the market slowdown we grew at the same pace of 25 to 30 per cent. Our business has never been affected."

Divulging his secret to success he said: "It's grace of God support of the government and support of my team."
