Kuwait- Yemeni stakeholders conclude 1st session of direct talks


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT May 4 (KUNA) -- Yemeni parties involved in Kuwait consultations on Wednesday concluded their first session of face-to-face talks.

The session was suspended for three days after the Yemeni government delegation withdrew from the direct talks in the wake of attacks on a military camp in western Omran province.

Resuming the direct talks earlier today the delegations representing the Yemeni government the General People's Congress and Ansarullah movement carried on with discussions of the framework proposed by the UN on the structure and the work mechanism of the political security and economic axioms for the coming period.

The UN-backed talks were resumed thanks to unrelenting fruitful efforts by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Abdulatif Al-Zayani over the past two days.

UN Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed announced on May 1 that the Yemeni government delegation had suspended its participation in the joint talks of the consultations hosted by Kuwait since April 21. (Pick up previous) am.msa
