Qatar and Turkey sign security agreement

DOHA: Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani and Turkish Prime Minister Dr Ahmet Davutoglu held talks at the Emiri Diwan yesterday.

The Prime Minister welcomed Dr Davutoglu and said the Qatari-Turkish relations benefit from the attention paid by the leadership of the two countries.

This stems from their understanding that the world is facing serious challenges on political economic and humanitarian levels especially in the Middle East which requires further cooperation at the bilateral level to achieve our common interests.

The Premier said “We look forward today during our meeting to continue efforts to enhance the excellent and deep- rooted bilateral relations over the decades which witnessed a steady development in political economic security cultural and other fields.” He stressed that the security agreement to be signed between the two sides will develop an additional consolidation to the solid relations between the two countries and “will bring the aspirations of our peoples towards progress and prosperity”.

Dr Davutoglu hailed the ‘historic’ and ‘ideal’ relations between Qatar and Turkey. He praised the ‘complementary’ relations between the two countries and cooperation at all levels particularly in investment economic and energy sectors.

The visit of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Qatar has resulted in the signing of agreements which have a strategic impact Dr Davutoglu said hoping that there will be Turkish investments in Qatar in all areas.

Dr Davutoglu said he looks forward that the Turkish companies will enter the Qatari market and have a share in investments in all areas such as the World Cup defence industries and energy.

The two sides discussed relations between the two countries and means of enhancing them in various fields especially economic security and cultural fields as well as the regional and international developments along with a number of issues of mutual interest especially the developments in the Middle East.

Following the session of officials talks the two prime ministers witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement in the military field.

The talks and the agreement signing ceremony were attended by top officials and members of the delegation accompanying Dr Davutoglu.
