Football family all set to celebrate National Sport Day

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar's football family will come together today to celebrate National Sport Day (NSD) as employees from the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Qatar Stars League (QSL) take part in activities organised across Qatar as part of the annual public event aimed at promoting a healthy and active
lifestyle.
All three entities will join forces to put on an exciting and family-friendly day of activities at Aspire Zone, with a staff five-a-side football tournament, sumo soccer and zorb races on offer to ensure NSD 2016 promises to be a fun social event for everyone involved.
Football has played a vital part in bringing people together since the introduction of NSD and this year will be no different. Through entertaining experiences that get staff and their families moving, NSD 2016 will provide a forum to meet new people and build community spirit and will help to raise awareness of the benefits of an active lifestyle, contributing to the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030 objectives.
"National Sport Day is a fantastic endeavour that unites the whole country around sport € one of the pillars of Qatar's National Vision," SC Secretary General Hassan al-Thawadi said, adding: "As our country prepares for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, I encourage everyone to get involved on Tuesday so they can get an idea of what kind of atmosphere they can expect in 2022 € exciting, family focused and, most importantly, fun."
In turn, QFA General Secretary Mansour al-Ansari said: "We are all excited to be part of our country's highly anticipated sports event, National Sport Day, and we look forward to enjoying a fun-packed day with our colleagues and their families. Celebrating this day showcases QFA's commitment to playing an important role in promoting the adoption of a healthy lifestyle amongst the communities in Qatar."
NSD 2016 also promises to entertain through a football family skill zone, where families can show off their football skills, a quick reaction challenge, which will see participants target illuminated lights to test their reaction times, and a climbing wall.
"We're excited to be a part of the football family National Sport Day event because we hope that this one day of energy and excitement will encourage people to continue being active throughout the year and we especially hope that they'll end up becoming passionate football fans," said QSL CEO Hani Ballan.
"So if you're into football, interested in trying out a new sport, or just want to have an energetic day out, we welcome you to have a fun time with the Football Family. Don't forget to wear your favourite local football team jersey!," Ballan added.
There will also be a kids zone to keep children active and engaged while parents or other family members take part in nearby activities. Activities on offer to children in the kids zone include skipping and hula hoop, a giant puzzle, face painting, henna, sack racing and a kids play area to catch up on some drawing skills. There will also be music, a popular MC and a bean bag chillout zone where participants can rest after the activities.
