Kuwait- Maroons, DBO register huge wins - DHL, KGA share spoils

(MENAFN- Arab Times) European Champions League football, Indian Super League or the English Premier League may be hogging all limelight in football these days but that has not deterred players playing in the Kuwait International Football Federation (KIFF) League from focusing on their game.

Everyone seems to glorify their imagination and drift towards a more stylish, 'panoramic' European game, however, we see some new Indian footballers being discovered in Kuwait in each game.

The league, perhaps the only overseas Indian league, consists of 16 teams divided into 2 groups playing in a round-robin league.

Top 4 teams from each group will qualify for the knockout phase of the league.

The participating clubs for the season are Goan Overseas Association, United Goans Centre, YRC Rising Stars, Navelim Youth Centre, Curtorcares United, Kuwait Goans Association-Nagoa Verna, FC Sparx, Indian Strikers FC, DHL Football Club, AVC Overseas Sports and Cultural Association, Skynet-Miracles SC, Santos United, Don Bosco Oratory, Malabar United FC, Soccer Kerala and Kerala Challengers.

The standard of the league is perhaps more advanced and organized and to a better level than ever before. Much of the credit for the exciting league goes to the managing committee of KIFF.

KIFF Managing Committee for season 2015-16 consist of: Derrick Gomindes (President), Xavier Furtado (Vice-President), B.M. Viegas (Gen Secretary), Domnick Pereira (Sports Secretary), Jinu Kurien (Treasurer), Marshall Fernandes (Registrar), Claro Fernandes (Asst. Sports Secretary), Austin Abreo (P.R.O) and Robert Bernard (Executive Member).

In matches played on Nov 20, 2015, Goa Maroons and Don Bosco Oratory scored rousing victories over their rivals to stamp their mark in the league.

Brazilio played an excellent game all throughout. He was awarded man of the match award at the hands of Mr. Tibush Rebello, Vice-President of KGA-Nagoa Verna.

FC Sparx were awarded their match against Kerala giants Malabar United FC.

As per KIFF League laws and regulations, any team that receives 2 warning letters for misconduct has to forfeit their subsequent match. Malabar has now failed to turn up for 2 consecutive matches after they received the warnings.
