Hong Kong gets back to farming


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Volunteers harvest rice in a paddy field in Long Valley, Ho Sheung Heung district of the northern New Territories in Hong Kong, China, yesterday. Over the past eight years, a group of green activists have succeeded in reviving rice cultivation in Hong Kong. Long Valley is the last and largest agricultural wetland in Hong Kong but its days may be counted as the government is planning to develop new areas in the northeast New Territories including Long Valley.
