Lekhwiya to begin training with new coach Belmadi

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Lekhwiya Sports Club will regroup this Sunday to start preparations for the new Qatar Stars League (QSL) season.

The players have had extended holidays after a successful domestic campaign which saw them pick up both the Qatar Stars League and Qatar Cup titles.

Algerian Djamel Belmadi, who replaces Dane Michael Laudrup, will lead the training sessions as he returns to the club for a second stint as head coach.

The players will undergo medical tests in the coming days. They will also have some training sessions before heading overseas for their pre-season training camp.

Meanwhile, Umm Salal SC renewed the loan contract of Dhiyab Al Annabi.

The north Doha-based club got approval from Al Annabi's parent club, El Jaish Sports Club. The new loan deal will be extended for one whole season with the Orange Fortress.

Al Annabi was an important player with Umm Salal Sports Club last season; it is believed that the Qatari midfielder is a key part of the Umm Salal head coach's plans.
